Kryptonite Jawbreaker Mushroom - WYSIWYG Item The Kryptonite Jawbreaker Mushroom is a rare, ultra‑bright Discosoma morph known for its neon green base, explosive red streaks, and high fluorescence — essentially a “radioactive” twist on the classic Jawbreaker lineage. It’s a premium collector mushroom with intense contrast and a glowing presence under blue LEDs. Identity & Appearance Kryptonite Jawbreakers stand out because they flip the traditional Jawbreaker palette. Instead of a yellow/orange base, they feature a neon green foundation with fiery accents. Typical features include: • Electric green base — the signature “kryptonite” glow • Black splashes with sometimes sprinkles of red, orange or blue • Occasional yellow or purple accents in mature specimens • Smooth, velvety Discosoma texture • Large, fleshy oral disc that expands dramatically • Extreme fluorescence under actinic lighting A fully colored adult can look like a glowing green planet with molten red fissures. Growth & Behavior Kryptonite Jawbreakers are slow to moderate growers, similar to other high‑end Jawbreaker variants. Once settled, they: • Expand into wide, fleshy discs • Develop more color with age • Sometimes produce babies from the foot • Maintain their neon green base reliably Color development is gradual — older polyps show the richest reds and oranges. Lighting & Flow These mushrooms thrive in low to moderate light and low flow, which helps preserve their intense coloration. Lighting: • PAR 50–120 • Too much light can wash out the green or shrink the polyp • Lower light deepens reds and enhances the neon glow Flow: • Gentle, indirect flow • Enough to keep debris off • Avoid strong, direct flow that can cause detachment Placement Best placement is: • Lower rockwork • Shaded or partially shaded areas • Smooth surfaces where the foot can anchor securely They’re excellent for low‑light zones where other corals struggle. Feeding While photosynthetic, Kryptonite Jawbreakers respond well to occasional feeding. They accept: • Mysis • Reef plankton • Fine coral blends • Small meaty foods Feeding 1× weekly can enhance growth and deepen coloration. Hardiness & Care Kryptonite Jawbreakers are fairly hardy, but they appreciate: • Stable alkalinity • Moderate nutrients • Gentle acclimation to new lighting • Clean, low‑flow environments They may retract tightly if stressed but typically recover with stability. Why Reefers Love It • Insane neon green + red contrast • High collector value • Smooth, classic Discosoma texture • Great fluorescence under blues • A unique twist on the Jawbreaker lineage
