Rainbow Yuma - WYSIWYG Item The Rainbow Yuma Mushroom is a premium, high‑color Ricordea yuma morph known for its explosive fluorescence, bumpy texture, and swirling multicolor patterns. It’s one of the most visually striking mushrooms in the hobby and a favorite for collectors who want maximum color with relatively easy care. Identity & Appearance Rainbow Yumas are instantly recognizable thanks to their dramatic texture and color layering. Typical features include: • Bright, multicolor vesicles in orange, yellow, green, blue, and pink • Bumpy, bubble‑covered oral disc (classic Yuma texture) • Radiating color gradients from the mouth outward • Thick, fleshy tissue that inflates when happy • High fluorescence under blue LEDs A well‑colored Rainbow Yuma looks like a glowing, multicolored anemone. Growth & Behavior Rainbow Yumas are moderate growers. Compared to Rhodactis, they can be a bit more sensitive, especially during acclimation, but once settled they: • Expand into large, fleshy discs • Develop richer coloration over time • Spread slowly across rock or rubble • Occasionally bud off babies from the base They prefer stability and gentle conditions. Lighting & Flow Yumas thrive in moderate light and low to moderate flow. Lighting: • PAR 80–150 is ideal • Too much light can cause bleaching or shrinking • Too little light can mute the rainbow coloration Flow: • Gentle, indirect movement • Enough to keep debris off the surface • Avoid strong, direct flow that can cause detachment Placement Best placement is: • Lower rockwork or shaded areas • Smooth surfaces where the foot can attach securely • Zones with gentle, consistent flow They do not like sudden changes in light or flow. Feeding Rainbow Yumas benefit from occasional feeding, which enhances growth and color. They accept: • Mysis • Reef plankton • Small meaty foods • Fine coral blends Feed 1–2× weekly for best results. Hardiness & Care Rainbow Yumas are fairly hardy, but they appreciate: • Stable alkalinity and nutrients • Gentle acclimation to new lighting • Clean, low‑flow environments • Avoiding direct contact with aggressive neighbors They can retract tightly if stressed but usually recover with stable conditions. Why Reefers Love It • Insane multicolor fluorescence • Unique, bumpy Yuma texture • High collector value • Great for low‑light zones • A true showpiece mushroom
