Frag 5-10 Polyps - Stock Photo your frag will not appear exactly as the image. From the Seahorse Aquarium Supply Farm. The Rasta Zoanthid is one of the most iconic, instantly recognizable zoa morphs in the hobby — famous for its glowing tri‑color rings, fast growth, and reliability in both beginner and collector reef tanks. It’s bright, hardy, and a staple in any colorful zoa garden. Identity & Appearance Rastas have a very specific, unmistakable color pattern that made them a classic: • Neon green mouth • Bright yellow inner ring • Fiery orange outer ring • Deep green skirt with alternating lashes Under blue lighting, the yellow‑orange center glows intensely, giving the polyp a “traffic‑light” look that pops even from across the room. Growth & Behavior Rastas are known for being fast growers once settled. They: • Spread quickly across plugs and rock • Form tight, uniform colonies • Maintain strong coloration in a wide range of lighting They’re one of the most forgiving zoas, which is why they’re often recommended for new collectors. Lighting & Placement Rastas thrive in moderate PAR and blue‑heavy lighting. Ideal conditions: • PAR 80–150 • Low to moderate flow • Mid‑level placement on rockwork or frag racks Too much light can wash out the yellow ring; too little can dull the orange. Feeding Rastas don’t require feeding, but they respond well to occasional micro‑foods: • Reef roids • Fine zooplankton • Coral‑specific powdered blends Feeding boosts growth and helps maintain vibrant coloration. Hardiness & Compatibility Rastas are: • Very hardy • Fully reef‑safe • Peaceful • Resistant to parameter swings compared to more delicate zoas They’re a great “anchor coral” for building a colorful zoa garden. Why Reefers Love Them • Classic tri‑color pattern • Bright, glowing rings under blues • Fast, reliable growth • Beginner‑friendly but still collector‑worthy • Pairs beautifully with other high‑contrast zoas
